There’s a reason why so many people have been waiting for the return of Skylights and with the release of new single Fever, the Yorkshire four-piece explode back into view with one of the biggest indie rock anthems of the year.
After two years away, “Fever” arrives like a shot of adrenaline straight to the chest. Built on massive riffs, euphoric hooks and a swaggering confidence that screams festival main stage, the single captures everything that has made Skylights one of the UK’s most beloved grassroots success stories. From the very first note, the band sound revitalised, hungry, and fully locked into their moment.
The opening guitar lines shimmer with that unmistakable blend of The Stone Roses melodic cool and widescreen indie bravado, before the track bursts forward on a relentless driving rhythm that feels tailor-made for sun-soaked festival fields and packed-out terraces alike. There’s a real sense of movement throughout “Fever” — a track that never stands still, constantly driving forward with the force of a band rediscovering exactly what made people fall in love with them in the first place.
Vocally, Rob Scazz delivers one of his strongest performances yet. His delivery feels effortless, full of grit, charm and that everyman honesty which has always sat at the heart of Skylights’ appeal. When he sings, “Sit back, kick back feeling fine, sipping on a beer in the summer time,” it feels like a rallying call, a call to arms almost, and the only thing to do is to join him.
It’s an upbeat summer song for driving around on a sunny day or having a beer

Musically, Fever is absolutely colossal. The guitars roar with confidence, soaring into massive lead lines that nod towards Oasis at their most triumphant, while the rhythm section keeps everything thunderous and tight underneath. Every element of the track feels designed for crowd reaction, the kind of song that will have you arm in arm with your mates singing every word back at the band.
Having been away for two years, Skylights have picked up exactly where they left off, bursting with heart, swagger and ready to become your new favourite band.
