Since crashing onto the indie less than 2 years ago, Taylor Liam Jackson has built a reputation in Derby of fericious live shows and relatable lyrics with an ever growing and loyal fanbase. He has released 5 singles, totalling over 22k Spotify streams, gained support from BBC Introducing and saw his single Let Me Go selected as ThisIsTheMusic’s song of the day.
Now, backed by a brilliant band, Taylor returns with his most blistering release yet, in See Me Around a track built around a driving indie-rock rhythm and powerful guitars that provides the soundtrack to a night out, the fleeting moments, seeing familiar faces and conversations that seem insignificant at that time, but somehow stay with you long after the lights come up and the streets empty.
The song carries a youthful energy throughout, part nostalgia and optimism, but underneath it all sits a reflective heart, on that turns chance encounters and passing connections into something far more meaningful. The result is a track that feels instantly relatable whether you’re walking through Derby, Manchester, Liverpool or anywhere for that matter.

“The song’s vibe is sort of a nostalgic feel with something distinctly new —also quite a jumpy song. It’s about a night out in Derby and the people you meet while out, but it can relate to anywhere really. It’s mostly about meeting someone and
then never seeing them again. It’s fictional, but it’s definitely something people can relate to.”
What stands out here, is Taylor’s knack for writing infectious melodies. The chorus arrives with the sort of effortless hook that feels instantly familiar after a single listen, while the repeated “See Me Around” refrain burrows its way into your head and refuses to leave. It’s the type of chorus that feels destined to be sung back by festival crowds this summer (more on that later). There’s a classic Britpop feel running throughout the song, but it doesn’t feel nostalgic for nostalgia’s sake. Instead those influences are blended together to create a modern indie feel.
Lyrically See Me Around, paints vivid snapshots of city nightlife, with plenty of Derby landmarks referenced, helping ground the story in reality, whilst still giving listeners a relatable feel. The songs central theme, meeting somebody, sharing a moment and then never seeing them again is delivered with a warmth and honesty that gives the song genuine emotional weight. Rather than dwelling on sadness, Taylor turns this into something to celebrate.
Taylor’s new band deserves credit here too. The rhythm section is tight and relentless ensuring the song keeps on driving forwards. There’s guitars deliver an electrifying sound, ahead of that scintillating solo, complete with plenty of reverb.
With a BBC Introducing appearance at YNot Festival (in front of an anticipated crowd of 4,000 people) on the horizon, momentum is clearly building around Taylor Liam Jackson. See Me Around is anthem that everyone will be able to connect with in some way. But more importantly, it’s another reminder that Taylor Liam Jackson is one of the most exciting emerging artists around right now.
See Me Around is out now on all streaming and download platforms.
