Solo artist Ryan Redwood, returns with his swaggering new single , The Tale Of The Mad Ones (15th May) a chaotic, swaggering indie rock anthem that captures the blurry aftermath of bad decisions, late nights, and living far too fast.

From the opening seconds, the track explodes into life with razor-sharp guitars, pounding drums and a relentless sense of momentum that immediately recalls the raw urgency of early Arctic Monkeys. But this isn’t nostalgia. Redwood injects enough personality and grit into the track to make it feel fresh, dangerous and completely alive.

Built around the story of a man spiralling through a booze and drug-fuelled night out, The Tale of The Mad Ones thrives on vivid storytelling and tongue-in-cheek realism. 

What makes the track even more compelling is the way it originated. The song began as a tongue-in-cheek joke between Redwood and best mate Alex Slack about writing a tune together, before Slack handed over a handful of throwaway lyrics that Redwood transformed into the backbone of the entire story. That real-life authenticity bleeds through every second of the song, giving it a lived-in honesty beneath all the chaos and swagger. We’ve all been there, sticky pub floors, hazy memories and someone saying, “this probably isn’t a good idea” moments before doing it anyway.  

The guitars snarl and shimmer in equal measure, the rhythm section drives the track forward at breakneck pace, and Redwood’s vocal performance is packed with attitude, charisma and a knowing smirk. There’s a brilliantly loose, almost reckless quality to the delivery that suits the song perfectly, as if the whole thing could fall apart at any second — but never does.

Produced by Jack Murphy of Youth Killed It, the track balances shout-back indie hooks with rough-edged storytelling, giving it that sweaty, packed-out venue energy that demands to be played loud.  

Crucially though, beneath all the chaos and laddish bravado lies sharp songwriting. Redwood understands exactly how to build tension, land a hook, and create those huge singalong moments that stick in your head long after the final chord fades out. It’s the kind of track destined to erupt liv. pints in the air, voices lost in the chorus, and venues bouncing from wall to wall.

With The Tale of The Mad Ones, Ryan Redwood doesn’t just deliver another indie banger, it’s a statement of intent. Loud, messy, infectious and unapologetically honest, this is a song that captures the beautiful chaos of youth in full throttle. One of the most explosive and instantly addictive indie singles of the year.
