There’s something brewing in Scotland right now — and The Marches are right at the centre of it.
Formed in early 2024, the Glasgow four-piece haven’t hung about. Early releases like In Comes The Fear and Talking Too Much quickly picked up BBC Radio Scotland support, while sold-out hometown shows and festival appearances at the likes of Pavilion Festival and Belladrum have turned early promise into genuine momentum.
But with “She”, they don’t just continue that rise — they elevate it.
From the first note, “She” feels immersive. There’s a cinematic quality to the sound — shimmering guitars ripple underneath layered vocal harmonies, while a steady, tidal rhythm pulls everything forward. It’s atmospheric without losing its edge, intimate yet expansive — a balance The Marches handle with real confidence.
Lyrically, the track leans into rich, poetic imagery. There’s a sense of nature running through its core — rain-soaked emotion, celestial metaphors, a character study that feels both grounded and untouchable. It’s storytelling with real emotional clarity — subtle, but powerful.
What really lands is the chorus. It doesn’t explode — it unfolds. There’s a quiet devastation to it, a restraint that makes it hit harder with every listen. The kind of moment that sticks with you.
And that sense of control isn’t accidental.
Because this is a band that have been building properly. A run of standout releases, a double A-side that expanded their reach internationally, and a reputation for electric live shows have all led to this point — a band growing in confidence, identity, and ambition with every move.
Sonically, you can hear the lineage — flashes of PJ Harvey’s edge, Fleetwood Mac’s melodic instinct, and a modern pop awareness — but The Marches never feel derivative. They’ve got their own lane, and they’re driving straight down it.
And that’s what makes “She” feel important.
Because this isn’t just another strong single — it’s a band stepping into themselves. Bigger in sound, sharper in songwriting, and completely assured in what they are.
“She” doesn’t just capture The Marches’ momentum — it amplifies it. This is the sound of a band ready to break out, and when they do, it won’t come as a surprise.
She is released on Friday 24th April and is available to pre-save here.
