There’s something about a band who’ve grown up together that you can’t fake. It’s in the glances. It’s in the timing. It’s in the way the drums and bass lock like they share the same pulse. On “Thursday Morning”, Unit 17 don’t just sound tight — they sound inevitable.

Hailing from Nantwich and forged in the rehearsal room that gave them their name the five-piece have been steadily grafting across Manchester and Liverpool for over three years, cutting their teeth at venues like The Jacaranda Baltic and The Deaf Institute.

If previous single Bitter hinted at a shift in gears, Thursday Morning slams the accelerator to the floor.

From the first bar, it’s electric. A fizzing guitar line tears through the silence before the rhythm section detonates underneath it. There’s swagger here — unmistakably Britpop in attitude — but it’s sharpened with a modern indie edge that stops it drifting into nostalgia. You can hear flashes of the melodic bounce of Ocean Colour Scene, the chest-out confidence of Oasis, and the urgency of The Royston Club woven into its DNA   — yet this feels distinctly their own.

The verses simmer with tension, vocals delivered with that half-sneer, half-yearning tone that makes every line feel lived-in. Then the chorus hits — and it soars. It’s the kind of hook that demands arms aloft pints in the air, voices ragged but united. It’s not just catchy; it’s cathartic.

Production-wise, everything feels bigger, bolder. The guitars crackle with intent, drums punch through with arena-sized ambition, and the whole track carries a sense of forward motion — like a band not just writing songs, but chasing something.

With Thursday Morning landing ahead of a headline slot at Off The Square in Manchester,

There’s a difference between a good indie band and a band destined for something bigger.  On Thursday Morning, Unit 17 make that difference crystal clear.

They don’t sound like hopefuls. They sound inevitable. This isn’t just another indie single. It’s a statement — and North West’s next big thing have announced their arrival in electrifying style.

Thursday Morning is out now on Spotify.
