London indie Britpop band Maze return with brand new single Actions set for release on Friday 27th October.
The 6 piece, consisting of Gary Davies (vocals); Paul Hancock (acoustic guitar); Paul Bassom (rhythm guitar); Scott Forsyth (Lead Guitar); Ben Rutherford (bass); and Aaron Palmer (Drums); formed back during the initial lockdown in 2019 and have built a loyal fan base through relentlessly rehearsing annd releasing new music, which includes 14 singles, a debut album (Chaos Interrupted) a B-sides and demos album (B-Side The Seaside) and an EP in Letters From London.
If that wasn’t enough the band have played their first debut headline show at London’s Dublin Castle (sold out), supported Skylights at their debut London show and also shared stages with the likes of Dodgy, Toploader and Stereo MCs. They can also count Joel Stoker and Dean Mumford (The Rifles) as fans, with Joel playing keys and producing the track.
Actions has been a regular feature in the bands live set over the past few months and it’s easy to see why it’s become a fans favourite.
It’s an upbeat and highly anticipated track that allows each band member to showcase their talents, without overwhelming the the and show that Maze are here to stay.
Starting off with hazy, almost psychedelic sounding keys before melodic, vibrant acoustic guitars, lead us into verses supported by a catchy drum and bassline., providing the song with a crispness and a vibrant upbeat feel. It’s a real foot tapper.
Gary’s vocal takes centre stage and is packed full of emotion, whilst having a rawness in its delivery. It’s really captivating and I love it.
The anthemic chorus is extremely catchy and addictive and, I’m sure will be sung back by gig goers in the months and years ahead, and becomes a staple of their live set.
“At the end of the day, actions speak louder than words, than words, are all you can say”
The lead guitar hooks are sublime and really soar, full of drive and energy that intertwines with the vibrant melody of the verses.
Actions is a stunning and euphoric masterpiece and showcases the self-confidence that the band possess. It’s a song that you’ll be pressing repeat on, it’s upbeat, and absorbing making it addictive. There’s a real buzz around Maze and that continues with the release of Actions. Watch this space as Maze are a band well and truly on the rise!
You can hear Actions, exclusively on the ThisIsTheMusic Rise of The Indie Artists Show, on Thursday 19th October from 7pm on Future Hits Radio.
