One of the great things about writing blogs is hearing songs early and coming across a band that you think are going to go places. Based on their debut single When I Need You Most (released today 7th July), The Ritz fall into the category.
The band, who formed in 2023 hail from Burton-Upon Trent and consist of Seb Cook-Abbott (bass); Riley Gillard (Drums) Robbie Joyce (Rhythm guitar and vocals): Finley Armitage (Lead Guitar) and their debut single is filled with glorious guitars from the intro, with a melody that hooks you.
The songs starts off a glorious, catchy guitar hook and pulsating drumming, that immediately grabs your attention.
It’s uplifting and melodic and packed full of chiming guitars and has a real bouncy feel good feel about it.
The guitars build up to an epic guitar solo that showcases the immense level of talent and musicianship that exists within the band.
The chorus is one big singalong, a real anthem. The lyrics are relatable and reflective, thanking the people that have played a part in life’s journey, but also asking for those key people to not going missing when you really need them.
“With everything I’ve done, what I’ve overcome, don’t go missing now, when I need you most”
The vocal has a stunning presence and the ease in which Robbie, moves from the high notes to the low and everything in between is effortless.
With just one single, The Ritz have laid down a huge marker whilst also releasing one of the debut singles of the year. The musicianship is fantastic and When I NeedYou Most is set to grab people’s attention and see the band lay the foundations for future successes.
When I Need You Most is out now on all streaming and download platforms.
