Manchester powerhouse Rolla set to release their debut EP, Nothing Less Than Everything

Having supported Kasabian and Shaun Ryder last year and tearing up festival slots across the country (Isle of Wight, Y Not?, Rewired, Neighbourhood, The Great Escape), Rolla rounded off a monumental 2022 by signing with Golden Robot Records and promised that they would be stepping up to be “bigger, louder and brighter than ever before”. With the release of their debut EP, they’ve blown that promise well and truly out of the water.

The debut EP consists of five songs, including recently released singles Hey You and Ease My Mind and previously unreleased tracks What Kid, When Life’s Thunder Striking and Explain Yourself To Know One.

Here is the ThisIsTheMusic track by track preview:

What Kid is a real statement of intent. After a spoken word introduction, it races out of the blocks at a thunderous pace, which is sustained throughout the song, and have you bouncing around immediately. The guitars are powerful, punchy and anthemic and are backed with powerful drumming giving the song plenty of energy.

Ease My Mind is a powerhouse of a tune and was well received on it’s initial release as a single (over 34k streams on Spotify). It combines that anthemic Verve sound with the punk attitude of The Sex Pistols and see the Manchester 5-piece deliver an anthem that proves they are the real deal and are a band to believe in.

Hey You is full of swagger and explodes into a full throttle rocknroll anthem that’s a cross between Verve’s juggernaut sound, Kasabian’s anthemic edge with the heavyweight riffs of Led Zeppelin added to the melting pot. The outro is like an impromptu jam session and James’ vocal chanting “you just faked it” evoking memories of early Verve.

When Life’s Thunder Striking sees the band being the pace and tempo down. It’s a real tender moment in the EP focussing on brotherhood, and is the kind of anthem that is destined for stadiums up and and down the country.

Explain Yourself To No One is an explosive way to the end the debut EP. The guitar riffs are infectious, the bass lines are bouncing and the drums drive the song along turning this into into a towering anthem. Lyrically this song delivers a defiant message: strive to achieve what you want to achieve regardless of anyone else’s opinions. The build up to the outro is electrifying and the demonstrations the quality of musicianship on display within the band.

Nothing Less Than Everything is a real statement of intent from Rolla. It’s a really exciting EP packed full of tunes that are going to stand the test of time and really emphasises that the Manchester band are worthy of the hype. Their rise to the top is inevitable.

Nothing Less Than Everything is released on Wednesday 5th April and will be available across all streaming and download platforms.
