The Chase release melodic debut EP!

‘Not the F*cking Game Show’ is the debut EP from the Nottingham 4-piece, which is a light-hearted title that pokes fun at the band often hearing the words “Oh, like the game show?” after introducing themselves.

The EP consists of 6 tracks that take you on a journey through the mind of songwriter/frontman Tyler Heaney.

Black Cloud is a great glam rock energetic  foot stomper and sets the tone for what’s to come. The guitar riffs and keys are frantic, with the later having a passing nod to Jerry Lee Lewis.

I’m the Man is a proper rocknroll stomper and thanks to the piano playing and big pounding drums, has a dark bluesy vibe about it. The guitar solo is electric and as you’d come to expect on a Chase record, the harmonies are amazing and really enhance the catchy 60‘s inspired chorus. The lyrics are brilliantly arrogant and paint a picture of one persons confidence about why all eyes should be on him.

“Not the F*cking Game Show is a snapshot of the band throughout the turbulent ups and downs of the last few years. It’s an insight to us as people and the band’s personality is imprinted on every song from start to finish” – James Cahill

Live to Die keeps the relentless pace and energy of the EP well and truly alive. The drums are pounding and the guitar riffs are soaring. Lyrically “Live to Die” explores the feelings in a relationship where you can’t be without the other person “I can’t live to die without you”. The passion in Tyler’s vocal really shines through and you can instantly relate to each lyric. This will be a fans favourite when played live.

Set The World To Rights is an emotive, and personal song that takes inspiration from classic ballads from John Lennon (Nobody Loves You) and Burt Bacharach (This Guy’s in Love with You). Set The World To Rights, paints a vivid picture through its lyrics of hard times, loneliness and love.

La La La brings back the spirit of ska and sounds something like The Dead 60s would have released back in the early noughties. As you‘d expect with a ska influenced track, there is a lot of energy led by the thumping bass line. The build up of the drum roll half way through the track is fantastic. The La La La’s in the chorus will be sung back by the bands ever growing fanbase and is song that is set to be a big fans favourite when played live!

In The Queue is an upbeat acoustic track, featuring Tyler and his acoustic guitar. It‘s a real heartfelt vocal with great story telling lyrics and showcases another side of the band not heard before.

In releasing ‘Not the F*cking Game Show The Chase have paid tribute to their council estate roots and further cemented their status as one of the most exciting bands on the new music scene!
