The Heavy North – Darkness in Your Eyes

Liverpool five piece, The Heavy North, are set to release their latest single Darkness in Your Eyes, which the band have unveiled as the first single from their debut album set for release later in the year.

With its blues inspired gritty guitar riff, The Heavy North have transported the listener back to the great New Orleans music scene from the 40s and 50s. The drumming on this track, along with the bass line just add to this sentiment. Kenny’s vocal delivery is brilliant and as soon as you hear him sing, with his distinctive and soulful voice, you instantly know it’s The Heavy North.

As The Heavy North frontman, Kenny Stuart, explains the lyrics touch on themes of loneliness:

“Darkness In Your Eyes is about recognising desperation in someone and trusting your instincts when you know someone isn’t being themselves, or something isn’t right and they’re trying to hide it. The lyrics touch on themes of loneliness and it’s about people craving intimacy and affection, often in the wrong places and from the wrong people” .

Despite lockdown causing havoc for live music, the band have not let this stop them in their tracks. They played a brilliant full band set at the iconic M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool for the second Liverpool Digital Festival; watch this set here The Heavy North Live

I absolutely love this song. It’s been on repeat from the moment of the first listen. I can’t wait to hear more music from the band in the future, including the debut album and hopefully getting to catch them live!

Darkness In Your Eyes is released on Monday 5th April and is available to pre-save from here: Darkness in Your Eyes

Follow the band across their social media channels here Twitter, Instagram Facebook and Spotify. If that wasn’t enough, head over to their website the heavy north.com where you can it their limited edition debut EP on 12” vinyl ‘Dive Bar Blues’
