Some songs find you when you’re ready. Mercy Kelly’s ‘Speak Too Soon’ doesn’t wait that long.

Greater Manchester’s Mercy Kelly have been quietly building their reputation since forming in 2019, but with Speak Too Soon, they’re stepping confidently into the spotlight. The five-piece – Jack Marland (vocals), Adam Bridge (guitar), Joel Buckley (bass), Jacob Simpson (guitar), and Leon Hepke (drums) – have already shared stages with Sam Scherdel and The Killers’ guitarist Ted Sablay, clocking up close to 57k Spotify streams and earning a loyal local following.

Now, with Tramlines and Kendal Calling on the horizon, plus a headline show at Gulliver’s in Manchester this September, Mercy Kelly are gearing up for their busiest summer yet – and Speak Too Soon is the perfect calling card.

The track lands with shimmering guitars and Jack’s emotive vocals, capturing that all-too-familiar moment of realising you’ve said too much before you’ve had time to breathe. There’s a gentle urgency in the verses, building into a chorus that soars and sticks, making it easy to imagine a crowd singing it back at them live.

Production-wise, the track is crisp, letting every instrument breathe while allowing the vocals to shine without losing the momentum that drives it forward. It’s indie pop with heart, balancing catchy melodies with a relatable vulnerability that never feels forced.

Lyrically, Speak Too Soon hits on that all-too-familiar moment of vulnerability, giving it a relatable edge without feeling heavy-handed.

“Speak Too Soon” showcases Mercy Kelly’s ability to craft songs that connect, paired with lyrics that linger long after the song ends.

It’s the kind of release that turns the heads of indie fans and music insiders alike and fully the displays the undeniable talent and potential that exists within the band. Mercy Kelly aren’t here to blend in; they’re here to leave a mark.

Speak Too Soon is released on Friday 18th July and can be pre-saved here.
