Subterrania are a dynamic Welsh four-piece, carving out a reputation as one of the most exciting new acts on the scene, with a sound and ambition that’s built for the biggest of stages.
Their new single Peaks, further cements this burgeoning reputation, as they are about to release their biggest track to date, and it’s a certified game-changer
Forming in late 2022, the 4-piece who consist of Dylan Cai (vocals); Fin Roach (guitar); Jamie Tooze (bass) and Luis Hancock (drums) have rehearsed relentlessly and released three singles to date in Benidorm, Shine and Knows Me To Well which have brought them over 49k streams as well as earning rave reviews for their mesmerising live sets, including a debut festival appearance at Isle Of Wight in 2024, which was one of the most talked about sets of the weekend.
Peaks is a soaring anthem that finds the band operating at full power, delivering a sound so huge and heartfelt it’s already being hailed as their very own Champagne Supernova. And rightly so. From the first shimmer of guitar to the track’s euphoric, sky-punching climax, Peaks is an instant classic the kind of song that makes you believe anything’s possible.
Dylan’s whispered verses drift like half-remembered dreams, lulling you into a calm that’s suddenly shattered by Finn’s thunderous waves of guitar.
The rhythm section of Lewis and Jamie is magnetic, with drums that feel like a pulse trying to keep steady while the rest of the track spirals outward in ever-shifting layers. Sonically, Subterrania have craft a sound that’s both intimate and cinematic, and is one that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Pastel’s debut album, Souls In Motion.
Lyrically, Peaks feels like a reflection on the highs and lows of chasing dreams, drenched in both youthful ambition and emotional depth.
With Peaks, Subterrania, don’t just show promise they deliver. It’s a track that burns slow, hits hard, and leaves its mark. No gimmicks, no second-guessing, just a band locked in, locked on, and ready to rise!
