Having formed in 2024 in The Argyll Arms off of London’s Oxford Street, through a shared passion of 1960s rock and roll and soul, 1970s punk, and 1990s indie and Britpop, London band Payola have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting emerging artists on the indie scene.

The 5-piece who consist of Robbie Capel (rhythm guitar), Craig Edmonds (drums), Dave Farley (lead vocals), Scott Forsyth (lead guitar), and Matt Peel (bass guitar), released two singles in 2024, racking up over 8k Spotify streams and impressing gig goers at their high-octane debut gig at The Spice of Life in Soho in January.

The new single Pulse Jet Man is one of the most exciting songs you are likely to hear this year. Opening with some delightful guitar feedback and crashing rhythmic drum beats, that gives an immediate feeling of excitement, Pulse Jet Man, sets off at a fast pace before driving guitars and scorching riffs take over.

The track is a rousing anthem, full of swagger of the 90s and boasts infectious riffs and a melodic vocal that rises effortlessly above the band’s raw, electrifying energy.

“The idea behind Pulse Jet Man is that it is the persona you take on when you want to be something that you don’t think you can be.  It’s the person you want to see looking back in the mirror, not what the actual reflection portrays.  Be that a hero, a thief, a heartbreaker or an astronaut. Everyone has a bit of pulse jet in them. C’mon, c’mon.”
