Scottish sensations Sonnet, return with their first single of 2025 and it’s sure to put the band firmly in the spot light.
Forming in 2023, the four piece consist of Nathan Evans, Archie Hart, Louis Alexander and Thurston Livesey and released two singles (Wait and Another Life) and a debut EP in Wishful Thinking, and has seen them achieve over 5k Spotify streams.
The new single feels both nostalgic and fresh and is a step up sonically, as the band continue to carve out their place as one of the most exciting emerging indie bands in Scotland right now.
The song is a mid-tempo indie anthem that steadily builds into a powerful, soaring climax, featuring an irresistibly energetic chorus and captivating guitar riffs that will leave you spellbound.
The deep resonating bass line provides the platform for the rest of the band to show their potential as musicians. The vocals are really powerful and emotive and convey the songs message of making changes. It’s open and honest indie, that will be relatable to many.
The guitar solo in the outro packs a real punch and combined with that pounding baseline brings the track to a stunning finale and showcases the high level of musicianship on display.
Changeover is a great song that combines classic anthemic indie with a heavier soundscape. It’s a growing testament to the bands ability to create songs that are both sonically engaging and emotionally profound and really sets Sonnet up for a big breakthrough in 2025.
Changeover is released on Friday 31st January and is available to pre-save now.
