Asgard Raven is an indie-rock artist from the south of England and first started releasing music back in 2021. Since then he’s released a further six singles, including Rollercoaster (62k Spotify streams), Chasing Your Dreams (18k Spotify streams) and latest single What Will Be Will Be, which has been extremely well received. Across the seven highly impressive singles, Asgard draws on experiences from his days in the army, taking inspiration from 90s Britpop and punk tracks.
What Will Be Will Be is an evocative piece that blends atmospheric soundscapes with raw, emotional intensity.
The opening features haunting, reverb-heavy guitars, building a sense of anticipation. As the song progresses, the echoing percussion and ambient synths bring a sense of spaciousness, making you feel like you’re wandering through a dreamlike forest.
The vocals are deliveries in a haunting, melancholic style, which complement the lyrics, which contemplate fate and inevitability, perfectly. There’s a sense of surrender in the words, as if accepting life’s unpredictable turns with quiet resolve. The vocal delivery is understated, which allows the instrumentals to shine while still carrying emotional weight.
One of the standout features is the seamless layering of sounds. Asgard uses a rich mix of acoustic and digital instruments, giving the song both organic warmth and modern edge. In the middle of the track, there’s a beautiful instrumental interlude that shifts the tone from melancholic to hopeful, echoing the sentiment of finding peace in acceptance.
Overall, What Will Be Will Be showcases Asgard Raven’s ability to craft a deeply atmospheric and emotionally charged track. It’s introspective yet grand, capturing the intensity of human emotions.
What Will Be Will Be is out now on Spotify.
