The Weekend Millionaire EP is the bands 2nd EP after last years Pop Culture, and will see the band fulfil the ThisIsTheMusic prediction back in 2021 that The Clause will be one of the bands of there generation.

Here’s the ThisIsTheMusic track by track preview.

Weekend Millionaire is an energetic front track that blends indie rock, with funk-driven rhythms making it an infectious listen and a brilliant opening to the EP. Full of catchy basslines and sharp, punchy guitar riffs, this track has the perfect amount of swagger as it explores the escapism of youth that evoke the highs and lows of chasing dreams on a budget, embodying the “weekend millionaire” lifestyle— providing a brief escape into wealth and luxury even if just for a moment.

Fever Dream is a confident and dynamic showcase of the Birmingham quartet’s ability to blend nostalgic Brit-rock influences with fresh, modern energy. It’s an absolute banger of a track, packed full of brooding intensity and infectious rhythm. The chorus delivers an irresistible hook, creating a perfect contrast to the verses’ more atmospheric, reflective tones. It’s the kind of song that sticks with you, its energy both calming and electrifying at the same time.

“It’s a battle cry to shake that
sinking feeling of falling behind for all those who feel like their life is stuck in reverse. Life events and
experiences of euphoria, romance & heartbreak whilst growing up in our hometown, Birmingham, conceive
five songs that call to all adolescents and post-teens trying to find their feet in the world. It is an
endorsement to cast aside your worries and live in the moment.”

Take Me Home is a vibrant burst of indie rock energy that feels like a night out on the town with all the highs and lows you’d expect. Right from the opening riff, the track grabs your attention, blending nostalgic rock vibes with a modern twist. It has a groove-driven bassline that makes the track feel immediate and alive, which is one of the band’s trademarks. Pearce’s vocals carry a cool confidence, effortlessly bouncing between swagger and earnestness, especially during the chorus where his delivery elevates the song’s infectious hooks. Lyrically, the track flirts with themes of desire, escape, and the allure of the night, which is further emphasised by the track’s upbeat tempo and indie dancefloor filler.

Stop The World is one of two new songs and starts off with some old school crackle, before bursting into the life with an infectious guitar riff and a bouncing rhythm section, making this an instant toe-tapper. The track packs a real punch, offering poignant lyrics about current affairs “Watching world war three on the BBC, I reach out for the saving grace, but they spent my lemons making war grenades”. This track shows that The Clause are not afraid to speak about important current affairs.

Never Ending Affair is an acoustic driven track, almost folk-y like in the playing and the sound. Pearce’s vocals hits the high nights with consummate ease and adds further weight as to why he is one of the best frontmen on the emerging indie scene. The track has a laid back feel, whilst still packing a punch with its powerful lyric.

Weekend Millionaire is a testament to the band’s rising influence in the indie rock scene. It delivers a compact yet powerful experience. It’s all thriller and no filler and with the promise of a debut album in the very near future, The Clause are set to dominate the indie scene for years to come!
