Siracuse make triumphant return on their new single.
The Cheltenham 4-piece who are signed to Vibrant Sky Records, have returned with a sublime track that blends dreamy shoegaze with 90s Britpop influences, whilst maintaining a modern and fresh appeal.
The track is built around a hypnotic, swaggering guitar riff, loosely based on The Last Time (Rolling Stones) before the drums provide a groove straight out of the Stone Roses playbook. The instruments are rich and expansive, giving the song a sense of space that allows each element to breathe.
There’s an unmistakable nod to 90s Britpop and shoegaze but Simple Pleasures, also feels modern, fresh and exciting. The band have expertly balanced the haziness of shoegaze and the anthemic energy of Britpop, creating a dynamic sound that’s expansive.
The chorus is extremely catchy, and is one that you’ll be find yourself singing along to instantly.
Lyrically it touches on themes of reflection and shutting down things that aren’t important and concentrating on what is important and getting a kick from the important things
Simple Pleasures is a brilliantly crafted song that captures a band at the top of their game. It’s a track that invites repeated listens, revealing new sounds and is one of the standout tracks of the year.
