Merseyside 4-piece The Kowloons are set to release their brand new single Raining (It Doesn’t Stop) the second track from their forthcoming debut EP.
The band formed in 2022 by twin brothers Stephen Ng (vocals) and Anthony Ng (drums), the lineup expanded to include Mason Jones (guitar) and Bobby Griffiths (bass). They’ve quickly established themselves as one to watch in the emerging wave of Merseyside bands, evoking memories of Britpop with their fusion of jangly harmonies and Northern acoustic garage pop in the process.
The new single Raining (It Don’t Stop) is armed armed with discontentment and frustration, exploring themes of job dissatisfaction and failed relationships.
The track opens up with melodic, jagged guitars that provides an uplifting, hypnotic rhythm, making this a real toe-taper. The guitar tone is clean, bright, and unembellished, enhancing the simplicity and elegance of the song, which makes the song feel light and introspective.
The bright and optimistic energy of the soundscape is in complete contrast to the lyrical content that reflect on the disillusionment of adult life and a brooding cocktail of insomnia and heartbreak. It’s a song that will be instantly relatable.

The vocals are really melodic and venomous in equal measure and filled with harmonies and catchy, sing-along choruses, give the song a rich, layered sound that are highly addictive and really reflect the mood of the track.
The rhythm section is understated. The drums are soft and relaxed, keeping a steady pace, whilst the bassline is melodic, flowing beneath the guitars and vocals with smooth, unobtrusive movement. There’s a sweet, subtle guitar hook in the songs outro, which adds additional emotional depth to the song.
Raining On Me (It Don’t Stop) is a brilliant track, really showcasing the quality musicianship and songwriting talent within the band. It’s a track that draws influence from the 60’s and Britpop, whilst sounding fresh and exciting. Raining On Me (It Don’t Stop) is an impressive addition to the bands back catalogue and shows why the Merseyside 4-piece are going to be the next big thing to blast through the indie scene!
Raining (It Don’t Stop) is released on Friday 27th September and can be heard on the ThisIsTheMusic Rise Of The Indie Artists show on Thursday 26th September.
