Prepare to be hypnotised by Kent shoegaze/alternative rock band Yet to Invent and their new single A False Alarm.

Yet To Invent formed, when guitarist Roman Czornyj and singer/guitarist, Craig Loftus met, when they relocated to Tunbridge Wells. They soon discovered they had a lot in common, from their mutual love of Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Kurt Vile, REM, Talk Talk and Doves to both working for the NHS. It was the perfect opportunity to jam and start writing songs, which really came to light with the addition of David Coleman (Drums) and Tommy Brunt (Bass). They’ve secured support slots with Reverend and the Makers and Tom Meighan and have also headlined 93 Feet East in London. To date they’ve released two singles This Town and Regenerate, earning rave reviews in the process.

The new single, A False Alarm is a melodic and emotionally charged single, that was recored by Kevin Vanbergen (Pixies, Biffy Clyro) and captures the waves of emotions experienced by anxiety; both lyrically and musically.

From the first note you are met with layers of atmospheric noise, before a rhythmic guitar pattern joins in, which provides the track with a dreamy, reverb-drenched melody, swirling psychedelia and soaring instrumentals, that perfectly mirror the song’s emotional core. The guitars are fuzzy and atmospheric and it feels as if they are, rising and falling in sync with the tension and release felt during moments of heightened anxiety.

The soft-edge vocals, float above the music, really emphasise the dreamy vibe of the track, whilst offering a contrast to the soundscape.

The song’s outro will leave you awestruck at the high-quality musicianship on display It builds from the origins of shoe-gazing and psychedelia, into a wall of sound, driven by reverb-laden riffs and finishing into wail of feedback, before fading away into the distance

This song is a testament to Yet To Invent’s growing mastery in crafting not just music, but an experience. Their ability to pair atmospheric, fuzzed-up guitars with deeply personal lyrics makes this track a standout, and cements their place as a band to watch.

Anxiety has never sounded so cathartic.

A False Alarm is released on Friday 20th September and can be pre-saved here.
