After a 10-month hiatus, London’s The Utopiates return with their irresistible and hypnotic new single Neighbourhood, which is set for release on the 20th September.

Having formed in 2021, during the Covid pandemic, The Utopiates have gone from strength to strength, releasing 10 singles, 1 EP and a debut album (The Sun Also Rises) which has brought them 500k Spotify streams, culminating in a sold out show at the iconic 100 Club in In London in June 2023.

Sine then fast rising indie-electronic 4-piece have been writing and recording new material, at The Nave in Leeds (Yard Act, Kaiser Chiefs),that will form album number two, set for release towards the end of 2025.

The first single from these sessions is Neighbourhood, a rhythmic, pulsating track, that provides thought provoking lyrical content against a highly infectious soundscape, whilst proudly asserting itself as the indie dance anthem of 2024.

The track immediately grabs your attention with its powerful combination of big synths, pulsating rhythms, and driving beats. These elements come together to provide a hypnotic energy that captivates the listener from the very beginning. The pulsating beats form the backbone of the track, creating a sense of urgency and momentum that carries the music forward, while the big synths add depth and resonance to the overall sound. This dynamic combination sets the stage for an immersive musical experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Whilst the influence of Kasabian, Primal Scream and madchester are evident, the guitar riffs take influence from the early 2000’s Nu-rave save scene that was headed by the likes of Klaxons, and provides a fresh and exciting sound. The fusion of these influences results in a high-energy, dynamic and boldness to the sound, ensuring it is impossible to not love this track.

Lyrically this song express itself as as angry response to the way that the working classes have been treated over the past 15 years, providing a fantastic social commentary, highlighting several failings of the Tory government, that perfectly sums up how the nation is feeling

While the rich hide all their wealth, And as the world just hates itself, So many people living rough, Because your charity’s not enough“.

In releasing Neighbourhood, The Utopiates have created a track that will fill indie dance floors, whilst carrying an important message that things can change if we want it. By blending dance electronic with indie rock, Neighbourhood, feels both contemporary and timeless. The track is an exhilarating ride, instantly captivating and a bold statement from a band who are set to make a huge impact on the UK music scene.
