Leicester 4-piece, Billobuckers are back with their electrifying new single Quiet Lie.
The band who consist of, Billy Buckler (vocals and guitar), Callum Martin (Bass and backing vocals), Alistair Tomlinson (Lead Guitar) and George Blay (Drums) have wasted no time in establishing themselves as a band to watch since bursting onto the scene in 2023. Since then, the Leicester band have released 5 singles (recent single Plan B is rapidly closing in on 15k streams), a debut EP; Eloquently Common (Over 29k streams on Spotify), which is supported by energetic and lively live shows, bringing the Leicester band a fast growing and loyal fanbase.
The Quiet Lie is a stomping indie rock anthem and represents a huge statement of intent from Billobuckers. Lyrically this track is instantly relatable as the song describes a tale of an unplanned night out that quickly spirals out of control.
From the moment the song begins, you’ll be hit with an intense burst of energy, and sound that grabs you from the first chord and doesn’t let go. This explosive full throttle pace is maintained throughout the tracks 2 and half minutes. In short it’s an absolute banger.
The track opens with mesmerising, fizzing guitar riffs that drive the track along, backed with thumping drum beats and pounding bass lines; it’s a track that will fill mosh pits across the country and cause unrivalled scenes. BIlly’s vocal delivery is filled with urgency, perfectly matching the song’s driving tempo and you can hear the ever growing confidence in his delivery (not that he was short of it in the first place).
The anthemic chorus is begging gig goers to sing along to at the top of their voice and continues the bands happy knack of writing choruses that really connect with their audience.
Instrumentally, the song is tight and relentless. The bassline thunders underneath, adding weight to the track, while the drumming keeps the momentum at a fever pitch. With the relentless nature of the track, the decision to slow the pace down at the 1 minute 35 mark is a masterstroke. It allows everyone space to breathe, and the instruments to take centre stage before building towards the anthemic chorus for one final outing.
Quiet Lie is a standout track from Billobuckers and showcases the bands talent for writing high energy rocknroll anthems, with razor sharp lyrics that instantly connect with their audience. It’s the kind of song that sticks with you long after it’s over, thanks to it’s infectious energy and is a testament to their growing potential. Billobuckers are going to be a must watch band over the next 12 months as they continue their trajectory to the top of the indie scene. Up the f*cking Indie!
