Hull singer/songwriter Dylan Ward makes a welcome return to the new music scene, with his first release since the quite brilliant debut EP Misunderstood.

The Hull native is set to release You Could Have It All on Friday 26th July and it’s a stunning display of musicianship and songwriting and showcases what an exciting and brilliant talent he is.

Dylan Ward first picked a guitar up in lockdown as something to keep him occupied, before quickly developing a happy knack of writing honest and moving lyrics telling relatable stories of his life and some of the characters he’d come across.

As soon as lockdown restrictions ended, Dylan played a number of open mic nights, playing originals and a mixture of covers. Word of mouth soon spread and he started to make a name for himself in Hull, playing prestigious venues across the city and Yorkshire, before landing supporting slots with the likes of Sam Scherdel and The Cheap Thrills along the way.

The track opens with a strumming acoustic guitar pattern with a guitar hook that’s almost haunting, and a crisp drum beat before Dylan’s fantastic, gravelly vocal, becomes the focal point for the song.

The track is really melodic and the lyrics are beautiful and reflective about a relationship that has come to its end. The vocal is packed with feeling and emotion throughout, whilst maintaining that gravelly, gritty sound. It’s Dylan’s best vocal delivery across his releases to date.

The chorus is irresistibly catchy and is one that you’ll be singing along and be stuck in your head for days.

You can have it all, if you didn’t know, you keep marching on, memories been and gone”

The intricate piano strokes show Ward’s versatility as a songwriter, bringing a different dimension to the song; it’s the perfect lead in to a soaring guitar solo thats glorious and has a real arena sized sound to it.

You Could Have It All is a fantastic haunting song, packed full of emotion and is a fine display of songwriting craftsmanship. The powerful, gravelly vocal is mesmerising and accomplished. It is clear from this track that Dylan Ward is a mightily talented musician with a very bright future ahead of him. Remember the name as Dylan Ward will be coming to a venue near you very soon!

You Could Have It All is released on Friday 26th July and can be pre-saved here.
