Birmingham 4-piece The Mood are back with an exciting new single, 17 Again

Comprising lead vocalist/guitarist Daniel Priestley, bassist Nathan Keevil, drummer Max Stanway and guitarist Jaimie Jagger, The Mood burst onto the indie scene in 2021 blending the infectious energy of Britpop, the raw dynamism of 2000s indie rock and the attitude of British punk.

The third of four singles set to be released every 4 weeks, 17 Again was produced by Alex Vine-Ruiz at Swan Studios using a hybrid of analogue and digital techniques.

17 Again is a classic indie rock anthem, that will well and truly put The Mood on the map. Lyrically the track will be relatable to many as it encapsulates the bittersweet essence of teenage love-lost and reminiscing about those care free days of being a teenager when life seemed so much simpler.

The

Dan’s melodic vocals really help transport you back to those simpler times, being full of emotion and retaining a real rawness to help that connection.

The lyrics reflect on the innocence and passion of youth with the anthemic and euphoric chorus, waiting for you to sing along “let’s pretend to be 17 again, for my heart it beats the same as it did back in those days”

The musicianship on display is fantastic. The drums and rumbling bass lines provide the song with its drive and energy, whilst the highly infectious guitar riffs will really grab your attention. There’s a really clever middle 8 where the relentless pace drops, before exploding back into the euphoric chorus. The song finishes on a dazzling guitar solo, that’s full of swagger and class.

17 Again is a riotous indie banger, that evokes memories and emotions of those care free days as a teenager, especially where the intensity of love has been experienced. The Birmingham 4-piece continue to build upon the impressive momentum of their previous two singles and have laid down a big marker as one of the most impressive emerging bands on the indie scene.

17 Again is out now on all streaming and download platforms. ThisIsTheMusic had the exclusive first play of the song on the Rise Of The Indie Artists show on April 11th. Listen again on Mix Cloud
