Liverpool singer songwriter and superstar in the making Fiona Lennon makes a welcome return to the new music scene, with her latest single the soaring Please Don’t Say My Name.
Having added her live band Jack Lennon (lead guitar,vocals), Jack McCabe (piano,vocals), Elliot Chinnock (bass) and Sean Burns (drums) Fiona and her band are thriving in the Liverpool music scene and now is the time for the rest of the UK to discover this highly talented artist.
Starting off with a melodic acoustic guitar, drums and Fiona’s heartfelt vocal, the emotion of which comes pouring out in the passionate anthemic chorus with the line ‘Oh, I just can’t face it love, when you say my name.’ For me this line really expresses the theme of the song: trying to come to terms with the ending of a tough relationship.
The song is an abundance of hypnotic and sensuous charm with emotive vocals that flow effortlessly over the stunning melody and really showcases the talent that Fiona has not only as a performer but also as a songwriter.
The musicianship on display is truly fantastic too and the band really get to show off their skills on this song. From the dreamy melodic guitars, to the uplifting piano strokes and the tight rhythm section, your attention will be instantly grabbed.
Fiona’s unmistakable soaring vocal is the focal point of the song and she shows off her incredible range and moves effortlessly between the high and low notes.
