Yorkshire Rock “N” Rollers Skylights set to release their new single Time To Let Things Go

Infusing Britpop and post punk influences, Skylights consisting of Rob Scarisbrick (Vocals), Turnbull (Guitar), Jonny Scarisbrick (Bass) and Myles Soley (Drums), have released of 6 singles, signed to 42s Records, and released their debut album What You Are

In the process they have built a strong and unrivalled reputation and a loyal, passionate following through memorable sold-out headline shows in venues across the UK including London’s Lower Third, Manchester Academy 3 and Leeds Beckett S.U. along with festival appearances (inc. TRNSMT) and amazing support slots (inc. Cast and Shed Seven).

The new single, Time To Let Things Go, is highly anticipated and it’s an uplifting but melancholic and emotional song, with the signature Skylights sound.

Opening with acoustic guitar and piano strokes (performed by Ian Surgenor), you’ll be immediately captivated at the haunting and emotional sound the band have created.

“It reflects on life as if every moment has been written in a book; good and bad experiences, pivotal decisions and hard choices where you have had to let things and people go, no matter how hard it was to do, to ultimately change your path in life for the better.”

Turnbull

Scaz’s vocal is packed full of emotion and really soars throughout, it’s heartfelt and euphoric in equal measure, whilst displaying a rawness that adds to the emotional pull of the track.

The addition of Julia Violinista (who previously worked with the band on Driving Me Away) is a welcome addition and brings a euphoric feel to the track, whilst maintaining that feeling of melancholic.

Skylights happy knack of writing anthemic choruses continues to shine on this new single. It’s waiting for its ever growing fan base to sing it back word for word, whilst having your arms round your best mate.

The song really builds after the first chorus and there’s plenty of passion and sentiment within the playing throughout and the instrumentals really provide an insight into the high quality musicianship that exists within the band.

Time To Let Things Go is an uplifting & beautiful tune filled with stunning strings that is guaranteed to make the hairs on your neck stand up. It carries a message of hope and reassurance that everything is eventually going to resolve itself. Time To Let Things Go provides further evidence that Skylights are a band destined for big arenas. On this evidence the big venues they richly deserve beckon: they simply cannot be ignored any more.

Time To Let Things Go is released on Friday 9th February and is available on 7 inch vinyl, or digitally.
