LOCK-IN are kicking off the biggest year of their lives with the release of their stellar EP, On To The Next, that will propel them onto the biggest stages this year and beyond.

Recorded at Premises Studios in Hackney by Curtis Elvidge of Ritual Sounds, On To The Next is set for release on Friday 19th January and it’s an EP full of infectious and captivating tracks which provide thought provoking moments throughout.

The EP consists of five tracks: The two singles from 2023: Easy and Red Stripe Remedy (which have a combined total of 33,742 Spotify streams at the time of writing), plus three new tracks, which consolidates the ThisIsTheMusic prediction way back in 2021 that LOCK-IN would go to the very top.

Intro was first introduced to LOCK-IN’s fast-growing fanbase at The Garage in London back in April 2023. The track has a melodic tone and provides a calmness before the storm of the madness that is set to follow.

Easy combines upbeat melodies with a melancholic edge, swirling vocals and atmospheric guitars that heightens the punchy hooks that provide a vibrant upbeat feel. The song is packed with emotion and builds to a stunning crescendo that points to a brighter future.

Red Stripe Remedy fusses groovy Stone Roses style drum beats, with punchy driving guitar riffs, and melancholy synth textures that provides the song with its energy. It’s an indie anthem that paints the experiences of a generation who aren’t living for the weekend and wondering how they are are going to survive the mundane of the 9-5. “Lost in the 9-5, we only work to stay alive.”

Onto The Next starts off as a punchy stomping indie rock anthem, with infectious guitar hooks, before a big-singalong chorus bursts into the soundscape and will get those hips shakin’. The mid-song tempo change shows off Benjy’s melodic vocals, before a pounding drum beat, along with that infectious guitar hook, builds the song to a stunning finale.

We’re working harder than ever ourselves to live our dream. With each step we take we can smell it. The engine is warmed up now, after building some good foundations over the last couple years. We’ve always lived by the saying ‘On To The Next’ as a reflection of moving on and having the fight to enter that next chapter, to keep believing.”

The guitars and pounding drums on He Said She Said provide a heavier sound to what what we’ve heard before. It’s got plenty of energy and drive and in a display of great musicianship there are several key tempo changes throughout, which add further weight to LOCK-IN’s determination to not be pigeonholed into a a specific genres and not just being another indie sounding band. The guitars shimmer throughout and it’s a punchy, intense anthem with thought provoking lyrics about making your own mind up and “knowing better” rather than getting swayed by others.

On To The Next sees LOCK-IN on fine form. The sound is vibrant and refreshing, with plenty of drive and energy that will have you toe tapping along with. Each song features honest, relatable lyrics about modern life/society and the EP is sure to be a hit with old fans and newcomers alike. With each release, and gig they play LOCK-IN, continue to take the UK indie scene by storm: their inevitable and unstoppable rise to the top will continue for many years to come.

On To Next is released on Friday 19th January and can be pre-saved here.
