Sheffield based 4-piece, Matilda Shakes, set to release their new single Fever Dream, following huge hometown show announcement next year.
2023 has been an a rollercoaster of a year for Matilda Shakes. From the announcement of three new band members; Joel Haddon on drums and Jack Poulson on guitar and Sean Yeardly on bass, joining founding member James Hallam (vocals and guitar); to having Adrenaline (5,339 Spotify streams) landing on several high-profile playlists including the official Premier League; Man City’s and Liverpool’s and Formula 1; before being used by BBC Sport for their cricket highlights show, featuring England and Australia women. If that wasn’t enough, they’ve featured at several festivals including Mos Fest, Tha Knows, Silverstone Wooddlands (as part of the British Grand Prix) supported indie legend Reverend and The Makers to support his recent album Heatwave in The Cold North and sold out The Leadmill in March.
Now, Matilda Shakes are preparing themselves for one final release of 2023 and their best year yet, with the announcement of their biggest headline show to date at The Leadmill and being added to GorillaFest (Winter edition). Ticket details for both gigs are at the end of the blog.

Fever Dream, the new single is set for release on Wednesday 29th November and it’s exactly what Matilda Shakes do best: anthemic rocknroll that packs a real punch.
The song starts off with a strumming guitar pattern before a powerful vocal and a deep resonating bass line kick in, providing the song with a real energy and drive, creating a unique sound and showcasing that the band are not prepared to rest on their laurels.
The explosive chorus is filled with huge guitar riffs, energetic vocal, thumping guitars and rumbling bass lines that will instantly hook you in. It’s full on rocknroll with a great melody and the chorus line will have you ready to roar it back to the band:
“Ruby in a red dress, twisted little temptress, my pint size princess, I’m begging don’t you pull me away, I’m begging don’t you pull me away”
The second chorus is a real standout moment as leads us into a powerful, stadium ready guitar solo, adding real texture and energy to the song.. The vocal is full of passion and really drives the song along whilst the musicianship evokes memories of the early noughties music scene.
Fever Dream is a infectious tune with an explosive chorus and is packed full of punchy guitars and blistering hooks. Matilda Shakes have got another fan’s favourite on their hands and are set to be a force to be reckoned with.
Fever Dream is released on Wednesday 29th November and can be pre-saved here.
