In 2022 Marples released their excellent debut EP In The Attic, with Once More and One For Their Own, being played at Sheffield Wednesday’s home games and followed this up with I’ve Been Shown, which has racked up over 4k Spotify streams. The band have built up their fan base through playing several gigs, including the the iconic Dublin Castle in London and Leadmill in Sheffield.
The new single, Friends is released on Friday 1st December and it’s a perfect jangly indie-pop song that as soon as you hear it, it will be stuck in your head.
The song starts off with a bouncy, echoey drum beat, before a jangly guitar provides a vibrant, upbeat tone. It’s a real toe tapper.
Joe’s vocal is really powerful and harmonious that will leave you in awe. It’s one of the best vocals I’ve had the pleasure of hearing.
The guitars shimmer throughout, intertwining with the powerful bassline, before exploding into a thunderous, screaming guitar solo that oozes class and the way they’ve built the strumming acoustic guitar onto the ending of the solo is majestic.
This leads us back onto the catchy singalong chorus, before a stunning finale, which shows why Marples are rising through the indie ranks.
The song’s finale is stunning and is full of soaring guitar riffs, that swagger and are the sound of a band ready made for arenas and beyond.
Friends is an epic song that highlights the high quality musicianship that exists within the band. Having risen to be one of the most exciting bands in Sheffield, Friends is the song that will ensure the rest of the UK sit up and take notice.
Friends is released on Friday 1st December and can be pre-saved here.
