Paint A Picture The Mease

Derby indie band The Mease are set to return with a brand new single ahead of the release of album number 2.

Consisting of Tristan Cooper on lead vocals/guitar, Guy Smith on lead guitar, Adam Goulding on keys, Jon Wright on drums and Jack Stanger on bass/percussion, The Mease had a real breakthrough year in 2022 with the release of their debut album, The World In Definition (read our 5-star review here), which was sold in HMV Derby, played at the opening of Derby Arena and had Spotify select Long Long Road for the Fresh Finds Rock editorial playlist

Now they are set to release their new single Paint A Picture ahead of the release of next years second album, The Machine Rolls On, which is available to preorder here. By preordering the album, not only will the first 50 preorders have their name included on the album, but you’ll also hear Paint A Picture exclusively ahead of its release!

Paint A Picture is the bands most exciting release yet. It’s a fusion of rocknroll, shoegaze, 60s psychedelic and Britpop.

The song starts off as a stomper built around a distorted guitar riff and a rumbling bass line, before exploding into the pre-chorus and chorus, which will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

“The song is about the thrill of the chase. The girl who keeps getting away but comes back for more. It starts off pretty dark but has this uplifting twist half-way through once all the lads pile in with their parts. The outro is unbelievable! Everyone loves it when we play it live and we wanted to carry that through into the recording. It really sets the tone for the album too, which is generally bigger, louder and deeper than the last one. We’re really excited for people to hear it!”

Guy Smith

There’s a filthy guitar solo that soars and wouldn’t sound out of place in arenas or stadiums, complemented with a harmonic solo, which gives a bluesy feel and shows that The Mease are just not your typical indie band and have looked to stand out from the pack.

This guitar solo leads you into soaring finale, which builds into a crescendo of stunning musicianship, and has a Champagne Supernova sounding ending, with the addition of a choir that will leave listeners awestruck, before a final twist. Dreamy waves on a secluded beach with a Beatles-esque acoustic serenade.

Paint A Picture is a stunning single. The influences and inspirations are there for all the hear, but The Mease have grabbed those and run off with them, making their own sound and released a track that is epic and will leave you in anticipation of album two.

Paint A Picture is released on Wednesday 1st November, but is available to hear exclusively if you buy the bands second album, in which the first 50 orders will have their name included onto the album cover.

The Machine Rolls On, the second album from The Mease is set for release on 01.03.23 and is available to pre-order on vinyl here.
