London/Knebworth based, three piece, Come At The King, have released their riotous and instantly addictive rocknroll debut album Overgrown.

Featuring 10 tracks, Overgrown draws influence from the blues sounds of the early 00s garage rock revival (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club; White Stripes; The Vines; Kings of Leon), mixed with big choruses, even bigger guitar hooks and swagger of Oasis and Stone Roses).

The album comes roaring out the traps with Old Town Fighter, a foot stomping anthem driven by powerful drumming and guitar riffs that will leave you both captivated and blown away. The tone is well and truly set for what’s to come.

It’s A Good Life is garage rock at its absolute finest and packs a real punch. The thumping drums are a real standout, along with that rumbling bass line. The vocal is powerful and strong, and across the album as a whole shows a great rock voice. The chorus is a belted out and driven by screaming guitars and is a standout rocknroll track full of positivity.

The Chase sees the 3 piece drop the pace and allows you to really appreciate the high quality musicianship within the band. The guitar solo in the middle of the song and the outro solo sounds epic and is a song that needs to heard at big arenas.

Black and White is built around a rumbling bass line and is a real foot stomping anthem, that builds and builds into a real epic track. Punchy guitars bubble underneath that rumbling bass line, before the guitar solos cut through it all and create a sound that will blow your head off. A real crowd pleaser.

Sectioned Blues temporarily transports you back to the birth of the blues. It’s a stomping track with rousing guitar riffs that pack a punch and is the sound of a band ready for arenas and stadiums that should inevitably come their way.

Shudder has a Black Rebel Motorcycle esque swagger in the guitars, that are intertwined with a rumbling bass line and rolling drums. There’s an almost dark and ominous feel to the proceedings, yet the vocal is bright, before the guitar hooks just build into a real crescendo.

The Boys is a guitar driven track filled with distortion and drive. The track starts off at a steady pace, and builds into an energetic track, driven by the guitar riffs and thumping drums.

Minesweep opens with an electrifying guitar riff and is full of energy and bounces along at a fast pace that will have your feet tapping and your head nodding to the beat. There’s a real punk vibe about this track, which adds a different sound to the album and showcases that the band are prepared to mix their sound up.

Good Bad Influence starts off slowly, before erupting, although not into a fast pace, it just rumbles along and becomes a real foot stomper. There’s a real garage rock vibe with this track,

Overgrown is that classic closing album track. It’s full of melodic chiming guitar riffs that have a verve esquee swagger about it. The vocal is quite soulful and is delivered perfectly.

Overgrown is a hugely enjoyable listen and is full of powerful, stadium filing anthems that is one of the best debut albums of 2023. It’s rammed full of great guitar riffs and emotive vocals that are packed with bags full of energy and is influenced by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Oasis. Come At The King are a band that you quite simply have to get on your radar.
