East Midlands power-trio Sharp Class return with their sizing new single Where I’d Rather Be, which represents the bands first release since their excellent debut album Tales of a Teenage Mind, released in November 2022.

Where I’d Rather Be showcases exactly what Sharp Class are all about: powerful, upbeat, chiming guitars and full of glorious melodies.

The song opens with melodic and rhythmic guitars that builds the tension and is highly addictive. Frontman Oliver Orion’s vocal is confident, punchy and sounds like a young Paul Weller, delivering the opening line of “My mind, it ticks more than anyone would guess, Going over like clockwork, it won’t rest.”

The bass and drums kick in, erupting into life ahead of a chorus that is massive and will surely have gig goers singing along to the line “My own little world is where I’d rather be.”

Where I’d Rather Be, is a song looking at society and, as the aforementioned chorus line says, my own little world is where I’d rather be, almost cutting a disconnect and dissatisfaction with the world, which will be relatable for many.

Where I’d Rather Be is upbeat and catchy and contains elements that are influenced by The Jam, but Sharp Class have well and truly put their own spin on that sound, creating a song that is power-pop meets punk.. the mod scene is well and truly alive Sharp Class!

Where I’d Rather Be is out now on all streaming platforms.
