This Dream Of Mine Marseille

Derby 5 piece Marseille are set to release their jangly indie pop stomper This Dream Of Mine, that pays homage to the Madchester 90s scene, which has become the backbone of the Marseille sound.

Forming in 2021, Marseille have gained considerable momentum with each release including fan favourites Forget It All; Only Just Begun; and the release of their debut EP Freedom, which came out in May this year.

Having returned to the Isle of Wight Festival to play The Songbird showcase, Marseille were snapped up by Bubblebrain Records and in the process showing exactly why ThisIsTheMusic have believed that Marseille will go straight to the very top.

Packed full of high energy guitar riffs and hooks This Dream Is Mine showcases the excellent musicianship that exists within Marseille and why they continue to stand out from the crowd and receive plenty of critical and fan acclaim.

“This Dream of Mine was the sort of song I’ve been wanting to bring to the band for a while, a high-energy, feel-good song yet keeping the jangle-pop sound intact and I believe the single does just that. I remember jamming out the song for the first time in rehearsal and having a smile that I just couldn’t hold back started beaming across my face, and if the single can do that for our listeners and fans then we will have succeeded.”

Will Brown – Marseille Frontman

Opening with big thunderous drumming, by Tom Spray, the song is highly energetic from the very beginning and is surrounded by booming bass lines and jangly guitars. The song doesn’t let up until the last chiming note of the guitar fades out it’s really fantastic.

Surprisingly the new single is backed with 3 b-sides. Much like Noel Gallagher did in Oasis, there’s an argument that Marseille have left “A-Sides” as “B-Sides”, but what can definitely be agreed, is it emphasises the quality of songwriting and craft on display within the band.

The happy-go-lucky love song that is ‘Brightest Star’ into the stunningly beautiful break up song ‘I Love You (So Much More)’ and the psychedelic madness of ‘Devil’s Gonna Get You’;. The B-sides show signs of vulnerability and an ever growing maturity in the songwriting and the variety in their music.

With a UK tour announced for this Autumn with proceeds going towards the testicular cancer charity, ‘OddBalls’, Marseille are set to sweep all before them and become one of the most sought after indie bands around.

This Dream is Mine is released on Friday 25th August.
