Ghost Town The Shed Project

Bolton’s The Shed Project return with their glorious and anthemic second single ahead of album release.

Having released their debut album, The Curious Mind of A Common Man to fan and critical claim in April 2022, The Shed Project have been relentlessly rehearsing and working on the follow up and playing storming gigs in some of the UKs iconic venues, including London’s The Water Rats, which frontman Roy Fletcher described as “the best gig we’ve ever done” and “an out of body experience”. As someone who attended that gig, it was honestly one of the best gigs I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.

Ghost Town is an instantly relatable track and carries a social commentary and truth about a vibrant northern town full of culture, tradition and value. Whilst speaking about the bands hometown of Bolton, it could be about any town centre across the country, that has become the victim of a lack of investment and seen pubs and clubs closing, begging rising and shops either permanently closing or moving to out of town to retail parks.

The melody to Ghost Town has an upbeat and vibrant feel, and you can hear the vocal almost pleading for things to change. The lyrics are powerful and really descriptive of the hardships these once vibrant towns now face.

“I can’t believe what’s happened to this once great town, empty buildings and begging all around”

The melodic, chiming guitars, have a nod to the Mondays and you are hit with a groove laden drum beat and an infections bass line, that provide the song with its upbeat, anthemic and catchy vibe.

Personally I think it’s great that a band is prepared to provide provide a voice for the common man/women and The Shed’s have achieved that again on this track, becoming an unofficial spokesperson for the working classes in the processes.

Ghost Town is a class tune, full of hypnotic guitar hooks and comes from the heart. The Shed Project have gone all out on this single and the result is there for all to hear. Having heard the new album, the time is now for the sheds to shine.

Ghost Town is released on Friday 25th August and can be pre-saved here.

The bands second album, Our Fear Is Their Power is available to pre-order on vinyl or CD from Wax and Beans ahead of its release on 24th November, from the following page.
