Indie 4-piece The Slates set to release anthemic new single What Have You Done?
Four mates from Yorkshire, The Slates are a young rising indie-rock band who formed in 2019 and consist of: front man Louis Barnes, guitarist Joe Briggs, bassist Jude Wales and drummer Zak Oldroyd.
In just a couple of years, the 4-piece have seen their songs receive air play on BBC and Channel 4 shows, played at the Leeds O2 Academy, as well as playing major UK festivals in Y Not Festival (2022) and Isle of Wight (2023). To top it all off, they’ve surpassed 10,000 streams across all platforms, sold out their first headline show in Leeds and released their debut EP U Wot, which included the summer anthems Hello, Don’t You Know and Shield Your Drink.
The new single, What Have You Done delivers on all fronts. From the opening soaring guitar riff (which are reminiscent of Viola Beach) to the scorching anthemic chorus that will be stuck in your head immediately and guarantee mass singalongs whenever it’s played live.
The song is a real anthem, packed with a huge melody, soaring guitar riffs and punchy drums that really hammer home the message of the track; self-development, getting over someone and reflecting on the impact they had on you.
“We feel like this song is a huge message to so many people, and we want to share this song with as many people as we possibly can. Finding yourself and being yourself is so important to everyone and everything, and as a band, we feel like we’re constantly evolving to be better people and to write bigger messages in our songs.”
