The Azurescens hail from Livingston in Scotland and burst onto the new music scene at the back end of 2022, releasing their debut single Middle Of Nowhere and Light From Dark.
Now, the indie 4-piece, named after a psychedelic mushroom, consist of Gaz (guitar and vocal), Andy (guitar and vocal), Brian (bass and vocal) and Steven (drums), are set to release their third single, Better Get Used To It on Thursday 13th July.
The songs starts off with an intro of news clips about overcrowded hospital wards during the pandemic and is backed with a strumming guitar pattern before Andy’s heartfelt and passionate vocal takes over.
There is a dark foreboding feel about the track with the theme of the song taking a swipe at the government messing with people’s emotions and mental health during the pandemic and the strain that out people under. The songs outro, whilst following the songs intro with the news clips, includes laughter, which is a great metaphor for how the powers that be viewed us during this time.
The song had a melancholy vibe about it and has a haunting soundscape whilst being driven by the anthemtic chorus and catchy guitar hooks.
The deep bass lines and soaring guitar riffs reach out and demand your attention and leave you wanting more. The Azurescens have once again showcased the fantastic musicianship that’s within the band and exactly why they are ones to watch.
You Better Get Used To It is released on Thursday 13th July.
