Liverpool blues rockers The Heavy North announce brand new single Round Again, set for release on Friday 30th June.
Following a festival debut at the Liverpool International Music festival (LIMF) in 2019, The Heavy North released their debut 4-track EP ‘Dive Bar Blues’ on limited edition 12” vinyl in December 2020.
The Heavy North released their, critically-acclaimed debut album Electric Soul Machine on Record Store Day UK in April 2022 before embarking on their first UK headline tour in September 2022 – including a sold out 500-capacity hometown headline show at Liverpool’s Arts Club Theatre where the band performed their debut LP in its entirety, accompanied by a 12-piece band.
Electric Soul Machine ended up in many of the albums of the year (you can check out our top 10 here), and if that wasn’t enough they were the subject of Tim’s Twitter Listening Party.

2023 has seen the band build upon that momentum, including the release of the Where Are You Now and go out on their second UK headline tour in May.
Round Again is the bands second single from their highly anticipated second album Delta Shakedown, which is set for release in October and is available to pre-order now on 12” gatefold vinyl (blue or red colour disc) exclusively from Wax and Beans Records in Bury here.
Starting off with a real stomping groove, and layered with harmonic, blues inspired fuzzy guitar riffs and thumping drumming, Round Again is an absolute glorious track.
Kenny’s voice is immense and powerful, packed full of emotion and is the focal point of the band, without ever overpowering the other musicianship on display.
“It’s a song about being complacent with day-to-day routines whilst longing for a wilder, more carefree time”. “Round Again is also a response to our last single ‘Where Are You Now?’ which was about wondering what people from our past are up to now, but with this time we’re reflecting on our own circumstances and situations”.
Kenny Stuart
Jose’s guitar solo is a tremendous fuzz filled hook, that will leave you mesmerised almost hypnotised and shows exactly why he is one of the best lead guitarists around. The guitar solo takes us into Kenny’s fantastic harmonic solo, that transports you immediately back to the New Orleans music scene of the 40s and 50s.
Round Again is filled with exhilarating drumming that drives the song along, a groovy bass-lines and frantic keys that have a real vibrancy about them.
The Heavy North continue to deliver fantastic tunes and make a name for themselves pleasing fans old and new with their swaggering upbeat and relatable singles. Round Again oozes class and sees The Heavy North at the top of their game. It truly is a masterpiece and raises the anticipation and excitement levels for the second album. I for one cannot wait.
Round Again is released on Friday 30th June and can be pre-saved here.
Tickets for The Heavy North’s biggest headline show to date at Liverpool’s Camp and Furnace on Friday 1st December 2023 can be purchased at www.theheavynorth.com, where you will also find details of their overseas shows in Ocean Village, Gibraltar (30th June) and Estepona, Spain (1st July), before returning to the UK to play the band’s first major festival show at Kendal Calling Festival on Saturday 29th July.
