Having released her debut EP My Life and It’s Disasters, in April, which has amassed over 71k Spotify streams, Grace Calver is showing no signs of slowing down as she’s set to release her brand new single Bad Influence on Friday 16th June.
The singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist from the Suffolk/Essex border, has been recording and writing her own material for 18 months and playing live for 2 years. This has included supporting Alfie Templeman in Cambridge in October 2022 on his UK tour and Toploader/Liberty X at Trinity Park, Ipswich in November 2022.
Bad Influence sees Grace enter a new era as an artist and she starts it off with a bang. It’s got bags of energy, and is an instant toe taper. It’s a got a pop punk vibe going on and it’s a humorous song about the kind of guy that Grace dates, despite the red flags.
The song starts off with a spoken word introduction (more of that in a moment) and sets off at a relentless pace, waiting for Grace’s vocal, which has grown in confidence and stature with each release.
The song is packed full of high energy guitar riffs, thunderous drumming giving the song a real groove.
The chorus is anthemic and will have you singing along at the top of your voice and the lyrics will be relatable to many.
“I can’t help it but every-time I go out I fall for a guy my friends warn me about, can’t see the red flags when the lights are dim, always thinking I could change him”
The song features voice notes from Grace’s friends warning her of the red flags about the guy that Grace is wanting to date.
The song features a scintillating guitar solo, that is mesmerising and will keep you hooked. It’s played by Jake Day, who also produced, mixed and recorded the track.
Grace Calver has released an energetic and upbeat single that is relatable and an instant toe tapper of song. The sky really is the limit for Grace and it’s only a matter of time before her musical talent carries her onto the biggest of stages.
