Monza Express are a 5-piece guitar band from Aberdeen in Scotland and they are gearing up to released their 5th single Back of The Queue on Friday 1st June.
Formed in 2017, Monza Express are Fraser Bateman (vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica), Greg Burgess (bass), Kris Fraser (keyboard), Shaun Reid (lead guitar) and David ‘Deco’ Smith (drums, tambourine).
The band have wowed audiences locally with their catchy tunes and memorable lyrics, and have 3 songwriters in the band, which keeps things fresh and exciting and allows the Aberdeen band to incorporate different styles, sounds and influences.
With over 10,000 Spotify streams, plus an appearance on the Brits and Pieces Compilation album, that hit the UK top 50 album chart, interest in Monza Express continues to grow and they are ideally placed to build upon this momentum and have an even bigger impact on the new music scene.
On Back of The Queue, Monza Express, have gone for a distinct 60s vibe, specifically The Beatles, “Beatles for Sale” era, which they pulled off with consummate ease.
The track starts off with melodic strumming of the acoustic guitar, before a punchy, rumbling bass line acts as the driving point for the song.
The lyrics are full of emotion and that has been captured perfectly in Frazer’s vocal performance. The songs lyrics are about moving on, accepting you are getting older, things changing around you, leaving things behind or being left behind that will be relatable to many.

The harmonica solo (the first time the band have played one on a track), is glorious and adds to the 60s vibe of the track, whilst still maintaining a freshness.
The melody is really upbeat and will have you toe tapping throughout the track and the harmonies on the choruses are glorious, beautiful that you be singing along to at the top of your voice.
Back of The Queue, is a highly addictive track that will continue the band’s journey in becoming one of the most important bands in Scotland. All aboard the Monza Express!
