Bolton favourites return with melodic masterpiece.
The Shed Project are back with their heavy hitting new single, Our Fear Is Their Power that packs an almighty punch and sees the band stick two fingers up at the establishment and the main stream media and sums up the mood of the work classes perfectly.
It does surprise me that more bands haven’t got their finger on the pulse and sing about social injustices faced by the working classes. Thankfully The Shed Project aren’t afraid to speak their mind and say it exactly like it is and give overs a voice.
From the songs opening thunderous drum beat, you know exactly that The Shed Project mean business and this is a song that you have to get on your radar.
The rumbling bass line and swirling guitars, give the song plenty of energy with Roy’s passionate vocal performance really shines on this track. It’s probably his best vocal to date and his confidence in what he is doing is evident for all to see.
You can hear what this song means to the band through the lyrics and the playing on the track and they mean every single second of the song. For me that is part of the reason as to why they’ve built up such a cult following over the past couple of years.
As previously mentioned, the lyrics take a swipe at the establishment and the media. The intro to the second verse and chorus sum up this song in a nutshell for me: “control the media to spread their fear, control your mind from ear to ear, they tell you what you can do” and “our fear is their power, give it up from the ivory tower”.
This leads us into BoJo’s statement to the nation back in 2020 when Covid first gripped the country, turning us into a state of frenzy. It shouldn’t work, but it does oh so well and hammers home the theme of the song.
Our Fear Is Their Power is another example of why The Shed Project, have built up such a cult following and are a band of the people. Passion, honesty and a belief in what they do. The anticipation and excitement that builds around each release is evident and they are delivering exactly what people to hear. No holes bared rocknroll that resonates with the people. It’s time for others to take note of The Shed Project as they are band who unite people – The Shed Army are going to be here for a long time, it’s time to join the revolution.
