Since exploding onto the new music scene back in 2019 with Money Mind, all roads have pointed to the release of an EP for Liverpool quartet The Kairos.
Since that first release, they’ve gained critical acclaim, whilst amassing a plethora of new and devoted fans that has earned them a reputation as being one of the most exciting bands around.
Better Late Than Never was recorded and produced by Ben Harper at the iconic Motor Museum in Liverpool, synonymous with Oasis and Arctic Monkeys.
The debut EP, Better Late Than Never, is set for release on 19th May, and consists of 6 tracks, 3 of which haven’t been heard before (Biccy Bandits, Better Late Than Never and Bone To Pick) will put adoring fans and newcomers alike into a frenzy.
Here’s the ThisIsTheMusic track by track preview.
Biccy Bandits, is a conversation from the iconic TV series “This Is England” with the cast, debating and laughing about whether a Jaffa Cake is a cake or a biscuit… we all know the answer is a cake right?!
Thick of It is a huge anthemtic tune, with gargantuan guitars and powerful Lee Mavers esque vocals. It’s a highly charged and energetic track and a real statement of intent that show The Kairos mean business. The frenzied drumming on this track is a real highlight and the catchy chorus is something that will have you singing along to at the top of your voice.
Better Late Than Never keeps the anthemic nature of the EP going and is driven by the soaring stadium ready swaggering guitar riffs and powerful drumming. Lyrically this is a song that has a real positive message. It encourages the listener to keep have dreams and ambitions and live those dreams and ambitions when you are ready.
Pop is a strutting, stomping anthem with a glam rock meets 60s RnB vibe about it. It explodes from the very beginning with the tempo dropping in the verses before bursting back to life in the chorus. Pop sees the band expand upon the sound of the previous songs on the EP and outlines the band’s determination to not be pigeonholed as a one trick pony.
Bone To Pick is what The La’s would sound like today. The song is built around the hook-laden ringing guitars of the chorus and has a great upbeat energy throughout the track. The song rattles along at a thunderous pace and is an up and at ‘em rocknroll anthem.
Trip Through The Night sees The Kairos bring the tempo down and sees the song start off a finger picking guitar style and Tom’s powerful vocal. The brushes on the drums provide another layer of craftsmanship to the bands musicianship and those gorgeous strings are both a surprise and stunning.
Better Late Than Never is an electrifying debut EP, full of swagger and self-belief that cements the belief that The Kairos are at the forefront of the new music scene. Strap yourselves in, as it’s going to be one hell of a ride to arenas and beyond!
