Wolverhampton singer songwriter release exciting new single ahead of second album
Having released one of the best albums of 2021 in Love and Exile, Sam Lambeth well and truly cemented his place as one of the most talented and talked about solo artists on the underground new music scene.
After a year of writing and playing live with his fantastic band The Four Chords, Sam is releasing new music for the first time since 2022’s rockin’ foot stomper Nod Your Head.
Walkin’ To The Well sees Sam determined to keep his sound fresh and exciting and the end result is an acoustic Afropop foot stomper, that blends soul, Afropop, folk and jazz and is a track that stands out from the crowd, and build’s anticipation ahead of Sam’s forthcoming new album.
“I was more determined than ever to stretch myself musically and lyrically”. “While I knew it wouldn’t be a dramatic reinvention or a drastic change of sound, I had the urge to diversify and make sure these new songs offered something different than what had come before.”

Sam’s trademark of writing a catchy melody with irresistible guitar hooks are on full display on the new single along with a chorus that will be in your head for weeks.
Musically, this track sees Sam use the undeniable talents for his band The Four Chords to its full potential. There’s harmonica, saxophone and a soaring guitar solo: and I’ve not even mentioned the superb gospel choir that takes the song onto a different level. I particularly love the drum beats on the track
Lyrically, we see Sam embrace a different side to his previous releases and writing as the song is written around a character, who is the first baby born after the September 11 attacks, and how life has not gone quite right for this character despite the initial promise and hope that came from that new life and in parts is autobiographical.
Walkin To The Well has achieved exactly what Sam wanted. A fresh and exciting song, which is bouncy and uplifting and sees Sam take his musicianship and songwriting craft into a different direction. Sam never disappoints with his releases and you are always anticipating with excitement about what’s next. Sam has well and truly whetted the appetite for the album.. I can’t wait!
