Grace Calver is a singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist hailing from East Anglia and is set to release her debut EP My Life And It’s Disasters.
Grace has been performing her set of original songs for just over two years and at just 19, has accomplished so much including supporting Alfie Templeman, Thomas Nicholas (from the American Pie movies) on their respective UK tours, awarded a place in the East Anglian Daily Times list, of 30 inspiring people under 30 for 2022 and named as one of their 5 artists to watch in 2023. Plus she won the Female Solo category at the NMG Awards (New Music Generator).
To top all of this off, she’s found time to record her debut EP, My Life And It’s Disasters, which features 5 songs, 3 of which were singles and 2 new songs.
Here’s the ThisIsTheMusic song by song preview.
Zombie Conversations was Grace’s debut single release and has amassed over 27k streams since its release. It’s a song about having dead end conversations with pretenders on social media who run out of steam before even reaching the first date. The vocal sounds totally unimpressed with their “chat”.
Bored Of You is dreamy indie pop at its finest. It’s full of honesty and is about an ex-partner who refused to get their act together and constantly caused upset. A deeply personal song, but written in a way that makes light of the situation, whilst being relatable for many and having a warm summery uplifting melody about.
“I write tongue-in-cheek indie pop songs with lyrics that I hope are relatable and entertaining, about my life and its disasters, including social media, bad flirting and failed relationships.

Read Your Mind is the first of the unheard tracks on the EP. Following on a similar vein to Bored Of You, Read Your Mind is about the dating scene and receiving mixed signals and as the song title suggests, wanting to read that persons mind and how it would be good to what they are thinking. This song was written after Grace was on a date with someone who got a text from their ex and replied. Unsurprisingly there wasn’t a second date!
Addicted is the most recent single and sees Grace take a departure from the dream-pop sound that’s a common theme on the EP and lean closer to alternative rock, think 90s Weezer. This song is about having a crush on someone and allowing them to consume every thought you have. This song is another relatable track, with a great melody and showcases another side to Grace’s songwriting.
For Dead sees Grace channel her love of alternative rock with a catchy guitar riff that soon turns into a anthemic guitar riff. Lyrically this is a song that explores missed opportunities and wonders what might have beens. I love the outro with the scratching/sliding guitars, it’s symbolic of the songs theme. It’s a really strong ending to the EP and hints at what may come in the future.
My Life and It’s Disasters is a fantastic debut EP, covering topics of love and heartbreak which will be relatable to many. The level of musicianship on display is fantastic and this is the sort of EP that you will be playing again and again. Grace has a fantastic voice and you can feel the emotion throughout the EP. Grace Calver is going to be a household name before long, this EP is just the starting point.
My Life And It’s Disasters is released on Friday 14th April and can be pre-saved here. Grace will also be releasing her debut EP on CD, follow Grace on her social media platforms for more information.
