Hull 4-piece Backyard Casino set to release catchy indie rock single.
Backyard Casino (or BYC to their fans) began when James McEwen (vocals and guitar) and Gareth Brown (guitar), who used to break into their school’s department to grab acoustic guitars and jam on the playing fields. That started their love for being in a band and, after a couple of lineup changes, they completed the band with Ash Wray (bass) and Daryl Collinson (drums). The band are influenced by the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, as well as rising groups like The Skinner Brothers and Fontaines DC.
With 3 releases under their belts to date BYC , are planning on releasing several singles over the coming year and have an eye on getting added to festivals, which based on such a captivating new single is more than likely going to happen,
Opening with an infectious guitar riff and and thumping bass lines, Nine Lives, is euphoric and highly addictive.
If you like guitar fuelled indie rock, then this is exactly the type of song you need to listen to. It’s full of swaggering guitars, hell for leather drumming and thunderous bass line capped off with a melodic vocal.
Nine Lives comes flying out the blocks and the relentless pace remains throughout and will keep you hooked. The opening guitar solo is ready made for stadiums and underlines the quality of musicianship on display.
The guitar solo bridging the chorus and the verses is class and adds further energy and attitude to the song.
Nine Lives is a fantastic single, and I’ve had the song in my head for a few days. The energy in the track is great and builds to the soaring guitar solos backed by those thumping drums and pounding bass lines.
BYC mean business with their latest release and the result is the bands best track to date. You will become addicted to the explosive guitar riffs and confirm they are hot prospects on the indie scene.
Nine Lives is released on Friday 24th March and can be pre-saved here.
Backyard Casino will be a guest on the ThisIsTheMusic meets podcast next week, don’t miss it!
