Derby 5-piece set to release final single ahead of the release of their debut EP “Freedom”

Marseille are undoubtedly one of the most exciting bands around. Having burst onto the scene in 2021, 2022 was a real breakthrough for the 5 piece that consists of Will Brown, Joe Labram, Lennon Hall, Tom Spray and most recently Felix Moxey. With their single Forget It All used on the goals segment of Soccer AM, the release of the 9 minute psychedelic monster The Jungle and debut festival appearances at Y Not Festival and Isle of Wight, Marseille continue to show exactly why we predicted they are a band heading straight to the top.

Thinker, was written by the bands frontman Will Brown, when he was 13 and was discarded, until the bands lead guitarist Joe Labram, persuaded Will to revisit the song and bring it back into the practice room and inclusion on the bands current UK tour and is constructed around the things that we say to ourselves after loved ones have passed.

Continuing to showcase the superb writing skills and musicianship within the band, Thinker is an emotional ballad which wears it’s influences on its sleeve and showcases exactly why Marseille are such an exciting band.

Musically, Thinker sees the band add sweet strings to a song for the first time, whilst writing relatable and emotive lyrics.

Yes there will be comparisons with Oasis (specifically The Masterplan and Cast No Shadow) but Marseille, have taken that influence and put their own spin on it and the result is there for all to see.

Will’s vocal is full of emotion and delivers the message of the song superbly. The ease in which he has been able to fit his vocal to suit the mood of each of Marseille’s releases to date is incredible and is a further testament as to why they are so exciting.

The strummed intro (which will inevitably bring those Oasis comparisons), with the bass, drums and lead guitar hooks play a prominent role in the song, without overpowering the vocal, which is front and centre of the song.

The guitar solo is spine tingling stuff and adds another layer to the emotional content of the song and really pulls at the heartstrings.

Thinker is a stunning and euphoric masterpiece and showcases the self-confidence that the band have that they are afraid to mix up their sound and not be just another guitar band.

At ThisIsTheMusic we have backed Marseille from the very beginning predicting big things in the process. It’s inevitable that Marseille are going to be the band of their generation – they are what the world has been waiting for.

Thinker is due for release on Friday 17th March and can be pre-saved here.
