Having had a superb 2022, which culminated in a prestigious support slot with Kasabian, and opening for Shaun Ryder, Manchester’s Rolla, consisting of James Gilmore (vocals), Luke McConnell (guitar), Luke Gilmore (bass), Tom Paddon (guitar) and Saul Bardsley (drums) are set for an even bigger 2023, with the release of a new single and their debut EP.
Having promised fans that they were stepping up be “bigger, louder and brighter than ever before” they’ve well and truly blown that promise out of their water with their best tune to date.
Hey You is full of swagger that will simply blow you away and cement Rolla’s status as one of the most exciting bands about.
“‘Hey You’ is a full throttle modern rock ‘n’ roll anthem with subtle nods to the ‘90s Madchester rave scene. We blended drum loops with growing guitars, grooving bass lines and roaring vocals in a beautiful blend of musical alchemy.”
Rolla – March 2023
Kicking off with a pummelling bass line and James’ vocal before exploding into a rocknroll anthem that’s a cross between The Verve’s juggernaut sound and Kasabian’s anthemic edge with the heavyweight riffs of Led Zeppelin added to the melting pot.
Hey You, is electric and a real powerhouse of a song that you will be grooving along to and scrambling for the repeat button: it really is that great.
Lyrically this is a song that calls out people who are fakers and living a lie, whilst Rolla are doing things on their terms and blowing people away.
“Hey you
Living a lie
You faked fame, you’re a thief in disguise While I’m loving life
And I’m too fast to die”
Rolla are set to release one of the singles of 2023 and keep the momentum built up at the end of the year, well and truly moving in one direction: all the way to the very top!
Hey You is set for release on Friday 17th March and can be pre-saved here. The bands debut EP is set for release on Wednesday 5th April via Golden Robot Records.
