Scottish indie rockers Shambolics release final jangly groovy single ahead of debut EP
Take It Or Leave It is set for release on Friday 3rd March and sees the Glasgow band strike a balance between jangling Britpop and late night 80s grooves.
As the band’s vocalist and guitarist Darren Forbes explains the song is inspired by a relationship that’s heading down a one way street
“We wanted to write a tune with a bit more of a groove and a bit more space. I think this track has a summery feel to it too. When we wrote it we already had the chorus and bassline and just worked the chords around that. The lyrics are pretty much about someone who is making an effort with someone but getting none back, and they’re pretty much just saying: ‘take it or leave it’.”
Take It Or Leave It is slick, sparkling and full of groove that finds the ‘shams diversifying their sound. The bands knack of writing a catchy chorus is very much evident here along with the bands vocal talent with sleek harmonies most notably in the tracks chorus.
Starting off with vibrant synths and a rumbling bass line Take It Or Leave is a song that will get you up and dancing and has a real summer vibe about it.
There’s a huge fuzzy guitar hook ahead of the final chorus, which just showcases the quality of musicianship within the band and there are plenty of catchy guitar hooks in the final bars of the song to reinforce that point.
Shambolics are currently a band full of confidence and have well and truly established themselves as the best band in Scotland. Next stop best band in Britain. It will take a brave person to bet against that as success is inevitable.
Take It Or Leave It is released on Friday 3rd March and can be pre-saved here.
