The Great Leslie are starting off 2023 with a real bang with the release of Can’t Touch.
Having spent 2022 releasing a string of singles and gaining the attention of some of the industry’s big hitters, as well as supporting indie legends Franz Ferdinand in Manchester in October, the 5 piece consisting of Ollie Trevers on Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Ryan Lavender on Drums, Alfie Pawsey on Bass, and Freddie Miles on Lead Guitar are setting their sights for even bigger things.
Starting off with an attacking and chugging bassline, before bursting into life with a soaring melodic lead guitar riff, Can’t Touch has you hooked instantly.
“The song talks about the first signs of the breakdown of a relationship by entertaining the idea of being romantically involved with someone who is not your partner. It speaks to those who may have at one point in their lives described themselves as having commitment phobia and in this instance is the foreboding of the failure of monogamy”
Ollie Trevers
The vocal is strong and really punches through the instrumental and showcases a fantastic range that swirls and intertwines with the instrumental leaving you highly impressed.
The song has a great energy to it throughout and drops plenty of tempo drops throughout leaving the listener gripped as to what direction the song is going to take next.
The punchy bass line is a real highlight in the song, along with the drumming that drive the song along, taking it off into different directions and adding to the mystery of the songs pace and direction.
With over 290k Spotify streams and 142k You Tube streams, The Great Leslie have well and truly announced themselves as true powerhouse of a rock out and are a band that are going to have a big impact on the indie scene and beyond.
Can’t Touch is released on Friday 27th January and can be pre-saved here.
