Adult Leisure set to release mightily impressive debut EP.
Adult Leisure are a 4-piece indie alternative band hailing from Bristol. The band consists of Neil Scott (vocals); David Woodford (guitar); James Laing (bass) and Nathan Searle (drums) and formed during the middle of the pandemic in 2020 and the need to create music.
The band have released 3 singles in 2022, all of which feature here, and are full of jangly guitars, heartfelt vocals and relatable lyrics, which ensures Adult Leisure truly announce themselves as a band not to miss!
Here’s our track by track preview of The Weekend Ritual:
Happiness is a riff filled anthem, full of energy, passion and an abundance of energy. The energy and fast paced approach of the song remains throughout and it’s by far and away the most rock sounding track on the EP. It’s full of swagger, and in addition to those huge riffs, features hell for leather drumming and thumping basslines. “Happiness, Happiness, goes on and on”
Modern Son is a song full of crisp, catchy guitar hooks and vocals. It’s a big song that tackles mental health and the stigma surrounding it: “To be a man is to be proud, and when you’re drowning, don’t be loud”. Despite tackling a big subject head on, Modern Son has a great upbeat, catchy melody and sees the band encourage people to be more open about mental health. The songs outro is fantastic and explodes into a massive rocknroll anthem, with a soaring guitar riff and huge pounding drums.
“We’ve always wanted to produce and honest and homegrown selection of songs which both showcase our ability as musicians, but also keeps in line our honest grass roots style. We wanted people to hear us with no filter or 3rd party influence. In an industry where so much is insincere, we wanted to give people us and us alone”

Control was the bands most recent single release and is a fantastic tune. The opening guitar riff is immediately grabs your attention along with the oooh ooohs, before a rumbling bass kicks in giving the track real drive and energy. Once the guitars and drums kick in, alongside Neil’s vocal, I got immediate Kings of Leon vibes. The chorus is one that will be sung back by crowds across the land and is one that I’m sure will go down extremely well with festival goers.

I Don’t Wanna Talk kicks off with a rumbling bass line, and a catchy driven guitar riff, before explosive drumming and thunderous bass line drives the track along. Lyrically the track explores love and being in love and the feelings that bring.
Things You Don’t Know Yet is full of jangly guitar goodness and on my first listen I thought I had to double check I wasn’t listening to The Smiths. The song was the bands debut single and it’s upbeat, bright and catchy. The guitars chime and really sparkle and would make Jonny Marr blush. The riffs really draw you in and will have you dancing along.
The Weekend Ritual is a fantastic EP full of gorgeous melodies and jangly guitar riffs that will have you dancing around and is full of relatable lyrics. It’s an indie pop record that showcases exactly what Adult Leisure are about: fun, good times, friendship and love. The Weekend Ritual has that in abundance and makes a late run for one of the EPs of the year.
The Weekend Ritual is released on Friday 2nd December and is available to pre-save here.
