In the space of 4 singles and a debut EP (In The Out Building) that is a contender for EP of the year, Derby’s The Public Eye have established themselves as one of the most exciting bands around.
The rising band have played a number of sold out shows in Derby and Nottingham, as well as their first appearance at a major UK festival, where they played to a packed tent at Y NOT Festival.
In addition, they’ve gained regular support from BBC Introducing/Derby and on the ThisIsTheMusic “Rise of The Indie Artists” show on Away Day Radio.
Considering the band only formed at the back end of 2021, what the band have achieved in such a short of time is highly impressive and has ensured the 4-piece have left their mark in 2022 whilst growing their fan base through word of mouth.
Their new single, Broken Politicians, released on Friday 25th November, sees the band release another anthemic indie rocknroll belter, whilst writing observational lyrics about everyday life and ponders why people always make excuses.
“Oh you’re making your excuses, for turning off the lights in my town, oh you thought he was you’re saviour, but look at him where is he now?”
The song kicks off with a catchy drum loop, before the melodic strumming guitars join in and are layered with glorious lead hooks and fills that will leave you wanting more.
As always frontman Joey Greener’s vocal is immense, packed full of emotion. I really like the passionate shouting of “yeah” ahead of the chiming guitar solo and final chorus.
Broken Politicians is a fantastic single that has a real swagger about it and as with previous releases the melody is extremely catchy and has a great sound.
I’m backing The Public Eye to make even greater and bigger strides in 2023 as they continue to blow expectations out of the water, ensuring they are a band to keep a very close eye on.
Broken Politicians is released on Friday 25th November and will be available across all streaming and download platforms.
