HAiG are back with ferocious new single The Gold, set for release on Friday 18th November.
Having released one of the stand out LPs of 2020 in Freeze The World (which has amassed over 55k Spotify streams) to widespread fan and critical acclaim, the band have spent the past 2 year, rehearsing relentlessly and playing at some of the UK’s most high profile festivals (including Kendal Calling and Victorious) and support slots with Jonny Brown (Twisted Wheel) and Little Man Tate.
The Gold, explodes out of the blocks and is full of anthemic guitar hooks, thundering drums and bass, a huge singalong chorus.
“I hold all the pieces they turn to gold you know is the greed of us all, The Gold controls and it feeds our souls”
The track is a mid tempo rocker, packing a great groovy melody in the verses, before an explosive and melodic chorus that will hit you hard.
The thundering bass lines and drums play a central role to the song, which provide the songs groove and flitting between the verses and choruses with ease.
Lyrically The Gold, sees Billy get political, without preaching what to and what not to do. This is Billy’s thoughts about our current dire situation with money and greed that surrounds it from business people to politicians and energy companies, no one is missed out as this is a powerful and relatable song with some hard hitting lyrics. The trumpets in the chorus give a real dramatic and climatic backdrop to the song, which really grab your attention and leave you wanting more.
Speaking about the songs dynamics, drummer Joe Mooney explains that it “has a nice space and feel to express himself as a drummer without it all feeling too overcrowded”
Whilst bass playsrplayer is Carl Forbes says that it has ‘A chill vibe”.
Billy Bibb – “I had to find our sound again once we went as a three piece band and this was the first one I brought to the studio to practice. The songs that follow also hit hard but have a similar groove. We want to blow peoples heads off but at the same time make them move, sing and fall in love with the tune all at the same time”
The Gold is released on Friday 18th November and can be pre-saved here.
